Nottingham Forest are once again being linked with Argentina left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.

The Reds are keen to add another full-back to their ranks this summer, with a right-back actually more of a priority.

Nicolo Savona keeps getting linked with Atalanta and Roma, with the defender currently the only backup to Ola Aina.

Fill in the gap: Nicolas Tagliafico would be a __/10 signing for Forest

At left-back, the Reds have Neco Williams, who is the regular starter and Luca Netz as the current backup for his place.

Now, Forest want Tagliafico once again and last night he was in action during the World Cup Final, which Argentina lost to Spain.

Argentine media praise Nicolas Tagliafico

It was a frustrating night for Tagliafico and his compatriots as they failed to turn up to the World Cup Final, seemingly exhausted after putting so much effort into beating England.

Argentina couldn’t muster a single shot on target throughout the contest and went down 1-0 to a Ferran Torres goal.

After the game, Ole delivered a verdict on Tagliafico, scoring him 8/10 for his efforts and saying: “In the first five minutes, he misplaced two easy passes and attempted a nutmeg that was successful.

“As the first half progressed, he managed to contain Yamal, and from that solidity, he gradually became the team’s best defender. He ended up playing in the centre of defence when the focus was on holding the ball up, while Medina stayed at full-back.”

Tagliafico looks set to be available for transfer this summer, and ultimately, Forest are placing themselves in the mix to try and sign him.

It’s not clear what the transfer fee would actually look like at this stage, but if a deal can be struck, the Reds would be getting a player with 81 international caps to his name.

Hopefully, this link does come to fruition as Tagliafico has shown in the World Cup over the past few weeks, he’s extremely capable.
