Nottingham Forest have been linked with a number of players already this summer, with Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall at the top of the shortlist.
The Reds need a replacement for Elliot Anderson, who has joined Manchester City, and although Xaver Schlager has joined the ranks, he’s not likely to be considered the replacement.

Forest do have some funds readily available for new players, and the club will hope to do some business before the transfer window concludes.
With Bergvall currently on a pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia, a new development has emerged which should force Forest into action.
Forest have to walk away from Bergvall deal
Speaking on the Market Madness podcast last week, Ben Jacobs has explained that Tottenham are now seeking £65 million for their Swedish wonderkid.
He said: “Nottingham Forest are pushing because Forest see Lucas Bergvall as the number one target to replace Elliot Anderson, and that could progress. Forest have made two bids. They haven’t yet met the asking price.
“My information is that Spurs need a total package of 60 to 65 million and the highest offer from Nottingham Forest is approaching 45 million. I think that between 45 and 50, according to people I speak to, of the total package, if that’s guaranteed, add-ons could do the rest of the legwork and the deal may be possible, but nobody’s yet met Tottenham’s valuation and that’s why he’s been included on their pre-season tour.”
Forest do have the money available to spend this summer, but it has to be said that there are better options available out there who are likely to be far cheaper than Bergvall.
The player has spent two seasons playing regular football at Tottenham and helped the club win the Europa League during the 2024/25 campaign.
Bergvall is a player with a lot of untapped potential, and if Forest are going to fork out £65 million on one player, it surely has to be for one who will be top quality in the here and now.
If Glasner desperately wants Bergvall as his top target then there is a nice notion that he will be backed by Evangelos Marinakis.
However, if paying a little bit less for a midfielder frees up some funds in other areas of the pitch then it can surely only be a good thing.
Forest should move on to other targets
In the modern era, football clubs will have preferred targets, but there will be a number of other players on the list alongside Bergvall.

The Reds will have a host of names being bounced around in recruitment meetings, and it won’t be the end of the world if Forest do move on from Bergvall.
Forest need to make sure that they have a strong squad when the campaign draws to a close, but with £65 million now being brandished around, it feels unlikely that Bergvall will arrive on Trentside.
