Nottingham Forest have made a solid start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, picking up six points out of a possible twelve.

With away fixtures at Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, the Reds wouldn’t have expected to pick up any points, however, they’ve come desperately close in two whilst winning the other.

The board have backed Steve Cooper this summer, with Forest now having a really strong squad capable of achieving great things this season.

Many players have looked bright, but here are our five best performers for Forest so far this season…

Nottingham Forest’s five best performers so far this season

With the Reds having a strong start to the new campaign, there are multiple contenders to fit into this list, but here are our choices.

5. Ryan Yates

A man who has divided opinion amongst the Forest fan base for years is Ryan Yates.

However, at the start of this campaign, the Reds academy graduate has proven his worth to the side including his cameo against Sheffield United which saw the 25-year-old transform the game in Forest’s favour.

4. Ola Aina

The signing that Nottingham Forest’s transfer window started was that of Ola Aina on a free transfer from Torino.

Aina’s signing came as a surprise to Forest fans, with Serge Aurier and Neco Williams already filling the right-back department, but the 26-year-old has been a shrewd addition.

Former Chelsea man Aina has featured at left-back this season and hasn’t looked out of place, playing against talents such as Bukayo Saka and Antony so far this season.

3. Joe Worrall

Nottingham Forest club captain Joe Worrall epitomises everything you want in a centre-back.

Like Yates, he’s had his doubters, but this season he’s been solid with his best performance coming against Chelsea before the international break.

With the tragic family event that took place, he had no right to perform as well as he did, with boss Cooper paying homage to his captain after the victory.

2. Anthony Elanga

He may not have started a Premier League game for the Reds just yet, but Anthony Elanga has already proven to be a great addition to the Forest side.

Elanga claimed a brilliant assist for Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal at Arsenal, before claiming his first goal away at Chelsea with a calm and composed finish.

The ‘electric‘ winger looks to be a steal for £15 million.

1. Taiwo Awoniyi

There was only ever going to be one man for the top spot wasn’t there?

Awoniyi has continued his great scoring run from last season, with three goals in the opening three Premier League games, before teeing up Elanga at Stamford Bridge.

The Nigerian really has become a clinical striker, with his pace and power a real handful for any Premier League defender.

If he stays fit, there is no reason why he can’t hit 20 goals this season.
