Nottingham Forest are so impressed with Murillo that they hope to sign a right-footed version of him in January! The Reds landed the uncompromising centre-back from the Corinthians in the summer and he’s been fast-tracked to the first team.

Murillo cost Forest a pretty paltry £11 million when he was signed from the Brazilian top flight. It was anticipated that he might be a backup option in the short-term but that hasn’t been the case.

He made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Brentford and has kept his place for games against Crystal Palace, Luton and Liverpool. The player has announced himself on Trentside and Forest are impressed with him.

Forest eyeing right-footed Murillo

This is quite an interesting claim from The Athletic. If Forest can land a right-sided version of Murillo they would have quite a defensive unit and it will be interesting to see which sort of player fits the criteria.

Murillo is among some quality defenders at the City Ground. On Sunday he played alongside Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly but Felipe, Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna and Andrew Omobamidele are also at the club.

This suggestion makes it sound as though Evangelos Marinakis will continue to back the club in January. Forest did sell Brennan Johnson for close to £50 million in the summer, signing seven players on transfer deadline day.

Murillo looks the real deal

On Sunday, Stephen Warnock said that Forest defender Murillo would have infuriated Steve Cooper. In the heat of the moment maybe his error did annoy him, however, the head coach will accept that young players will make mistakes.

Murillo looks like a quality piece of business made by the Reds. He didn’t cost the earth and if Forest can land another version of the player it would be class.

Murillo has a swashbuckling ability to carry the ball out from the back, it would bode very well for the future.
