Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to sign Fluminense 26-year-old Brazilian centre-back Nino.

According to UOL and also reported by Vamo Fluminense Steve Cooper’s side have already reached an agreement to sign the defender, with the Fluminense captain to join at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old is highly rated in his homeland, with the defender being included in the Brazilian national side during the last international break.

Should the Reds complete a deal for Nino, he would become the fifth Brazilian at the club, joining Felipe, Danilo, Andrey Santos and Murillo at the City Ground.

Who is Nottingham Forest target, Nino?

Marcilio Florencio Mota Filho, who is more commonly referred to as Nino, joined Brazilian side Fluminese back in 2019 from Criciúma – making 236 appearances for the club.

The defender has excelled in the Brazilian first division, with the 26-year-old a crucial part of the side that has reached the Copa Libertadores final this season.

As recently as the summer, the defender was linked with moves to join clubs such as Besiktas and Al-Shabab in Turkey and Saudi Arabia respectively.

However, Nino decided to stay in Brazil, with a move to the Premier League said to be close to being completed.

Could Nino follow in Murillo’s footsteps?

During the summer, Cooper’s side invested £13 million in defender Murillo from Brazilian side Corinthians – with the 21-year-old becoming an instant hit, starring in just his second game against Crystal Palace.

Earlier this week, The Athletic confirmed that the Reds were eyeing up another defender from Brazil after the immediate impact of Murillo.

Nino potentially could be the one the Reds decide to pursue, with Forest fans having the opportunity to watch the 26-year-old in action during the Libertadores final against Boca Juniors on Saturday night.
