The president of Fluminense wanted to give Nino a 10-year contract before he chose to join Nottingham Forest. The Reds are expected to get a deal for the player over the line in the coming weeks.
Forest have won a race to sign Nino ahead of other European clubs. Besiktas and Almeria were thought to be keen, but the Premier League’s lure has proved too strong.
The 26-year-old will head to Forest with his confidence sky high. Nino helped Fluminense win the Copa Libertadores on Saturday, with the Brazilian team beating Boca Juniors.
President wanted to give Nino 10-year contract
This should speak volumes about how highly rated the player is at Fluminense. The president, Mario Bittencourt, clearly likes the player and has been discussing the potential departure of Nino to Forest.
He told Sportv: “I said to Nino: ‘If you decide to stay in Brazil, I’ll make every effort, I’ll increase your contract so that you can stay with us for 8, 9, 10 years’. He said he really wants to play in Europe, it’s a dream for him and his family. We may lose him, but we’re working to replace him.”

Nino looks set to move to Forest after the Club World Cup where he make his final Fluminense appearances. A deal is set to go through at around £6 million and this week he was called up by Brazil.
Nino could star at Forest
It’s been no secret that Forest have fancied signing another central defender and that’s led them to Nino. It was claimed recently that the Reds were eyeing a right-sided version of Murillo who has made a brilliant impact.
The defender seems like the tough-tackling sort. On Saturday, He received some praise for that element of his game with the national media raving about him.
Forest do have a number of central defenders but Nino should slot in nicely. Over the next couple of transfer windows, some of the current crop should leave and as a result, Nino should be able to grasp his opportunity.
