Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga has been a big hit at the City Ground since his summer arrival from Manchester United. The player cost £15 million and was the club’s second signing during the off-season.
Elanga scored his second goal in a Forest shirt during Sunday’s 3-2 defeat over West Ham. Now, it’s emerged that the 21-year-old is one of the fastest players currently playing in one of the top five leagues.
Forest now have a two-week break. Steve Cooper has overseen just one win in seven Premier League matches and that simply won’t do as he strives to improve the team’s fortunes.
Elanga among fastest players in Europe
Earlier this week it emerged that Elanga was injured at West Ham and won’t play for Sweden in their forthcoming games. The nation can’t qualify for Euro 2024 and it’s wise that the player won’t be risking anything.
According to CIES Football Obs, Forest star Elanga is the second fastest player in the top five European leagues. This is based on players and their top sprint speeds when in possession of the ball.

Elanga has showcased some blistering pace since he signed for Forest. In his first game against Arsenal, he produced a lung-busting run down the length of the pitch to setup Taiwo Awoniyi to score.
In this list of fast players that has emerged, Forest player Elanga sits between Anthony Gordon who is first on the list and Montpellier player Musa Al-Taamari who is third.
Elanga can star at Forest this season
The challenge for the Forest star is to continue improving with each game. On Sunday, Daniel Sturridge called Elanga ‘fantastic’ for his efforts as he fired Forest in front against West Ham.
Elanga was perhaps sold by United due to a lack of consistency. His end product could sometimes be considered better but ultimately, he’s a young player who will learn with more game time.
Cooper might just be the perfect manager for Forest winger Elanga. He’s a player who appears to be enjoying his time at the City Ground and he could thrive with more game time as the season progresses.
