Brazilian media share their verdicts on incoming Forest signing Nino

Incoming Nottingham Forest player Nino made his debut for Brazil this week as they were beaten by Argentina. The centre-back came on to replace Marquinhos during the 1-0 defeat.

Nino to Forest is the worst-kept secret in terms of transfers right now. His £6 million move looks set to take place in January after he’s played in the Club World Cup for Fluminense.

The 26-year-old is set to embark on a European adventure. He will be sorely missed at his current club and the president there has suggested he’d give him a 10-year contract if he thought he’d sign it.

National media react as Nino makes Brazil debut

The talented central defender has now capped a fine campaign by playing for his country. He managed to get on the pitch in this one after being an unused substitute against Colombia.

It seems as though he did quite well during the contest, despite the defeat for Brazil. Globo said on Forest-linked Nino: “He became the 20th player to debut for the Selecao in 2023 when he came on in the second half. Safe operation. In the end, with the team one down he missed passes, but didn’t commit.”

Bola VIP also ranked the player’s performance. They said: “Came on in the second half, was safe, but missed some passes when Brazil had one less.”

Nino can star at Forest given time

As with any player who came in from South America there will be a settling-in period. For every Murillo who makes an impact straight away, there will be a Danilo who takes a little more time.

It’s been claimed that the Reds want to sign a right-footed version of Murillo in January. Nino fits that bill for Forest and he will perhaps be disappointed with his passing against Argentina.

Steve Cooper has a number of central defensive options but clearly, they fancy more. Nino is vastly experienced in Brazil and it looks as though his aggressive style will be welcomed at Forest.
