Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga was praised by Paul Robinson after his performance against Everton on Saturday.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 by the Toffees at the City Ground with Dwight McNeil scoring in the second half.

Elanga was one of the better-performing Forest players during the defeat as he continued in the team.

The youngster signed from Manchester United for £15 million and had to be patient to get a starting berth in the team.

Elanga praised during defeat

Robinson was covering the match for BBC Sport at the weekend and he praised Forest star Elanga.

The 21-year-old perhaps should have scored during this content but Jordan Pickford produced a fine stop to prevent him.

Still, Robinson was impressed with the player and raved about him during the contest.

He told BBC Sport: “Elanga is causing Young some problems already. Jack Harrison is having to drop back and cover because Elanga has such electric pace.”

Elanga has six goal contributions to his name since joining Forest from Manchester United in the summer.

Given his pace, natural comparisons will emerge between him and Brennan Johnson, although both players are somewhat different.

Elanga can prove huge signing for Forest

The Reds did well to sign Elanga during the summer transfer window and he does look like a sound addition.

Elanga wasn’t getting regular game time at United and naturally, he needed to leave Old Trafford.

Forest fought off competition from Everton to land Elanga and he’s been getting better with every performance.

He scored against Brighton just last week and that was the third time that he’s found the net this season.

Robinson was right to praise Elanga this weekend but he won’t have been happy with the Forest result.

The Reds desperately need a win from somewhere and hopefully, Forest can get maximum points against Fulham and Wolves this weekend.
