Stuart Pearce has delivered his verdict on whether or not Steve Cooper should be sacked by Nottingham Forest. The Reds incumbent is under pressure after a run of one win in 12 matches.

Forest were battered 5-0 by Fulham a week ago. Evangelos Marinakis was so disgruntled with that performance that he tossed his matchday pass in the bush outside of the stadium.

After that game, Pearce praised the Forest supporters, calling them ‘extraordinary’ for the way they backed Cooper. Now, he’s delivered his verdict on the whole situation…

Pearce suggests whether Cooper should be sacked by Forest

The legendary Forest figure still loves the club. When he covered the Fulham game for Amazon Prime it was easy to tell that he was hurting with the result that the Reds suffered.

On TalkSPORT earlier this week, he was quizzed on the situation surrounding Cooper at Forest. He doesn’t see too much of a problem right now at the City Ground.

Pearce claimed: “They were 23 years outside the Premier League by the way. I see where they are at the moment as a building block. He kept them up, he gets the club, he understands the ethos of the club. The fans are backing the manager and the owner, I don’t see too many problems there at the moment I really don’t.”

Pearce makes good points about Forest head coach

It would be easy to listen to Pearce talk about football and in particular Forest all day. He’s got the club’s best interests at heart and he still cares deeply about the Reds.

He does make some valid points about Forest boss Cooper and it would be heartbreaking if he does leave. However, this is a result-based business and Marinakis won’t be happy.

Since winning promotion, the Greek owner has spent a fortune. As a result, he will want to see some progress this season and right now, he’s not seeing too much of that.

Hopefully, Forest can claim a big three points against Tottenham on Friday. That could prove the catalyst to go on a decent run and start to climb the Premier League.

It could also help Cooper from receiving a p45 from Marinakis and boy does the Forest head coach need a big performance on Friday night.
