Nottingham Forest face Tottenham at the City Ground tonight and it would appear that Joe Worrall is back in training.

It’s been a frustrating campaign for the club captain. Worrall has played just five times for Forest and hasn’t made a matchday squad since October.

Reports have emerged in recent weeks that the player is now on the transfer list; with Leicester and Middlesbrough wanting to sign Worrall.

The 26-year-old last featured for Forest during the final 20 minutes of a 2-2 draw against Luton at the City Ground.

During that game, he didn’t cover himself in glory and looked rusty as he proved at fault for both goals scored in the closing stages by the Hatters.

Worrall spotted in Forest training

Ahead of Forest’s game with Tottenham tonight, it would appear that Worrall is now back in training with the first team.

It was claimed earlier this month that the defender, along with Scott McKenna, had been banished from training with Steve Cooper’s ranks.

Now, it would seem that Worrall has been invited back into Forest training ahead of tonight’s game.

The player has been spotted in the background of a photo taken for the club’s official X account of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

He can be seen wearing a blue bid, on the same team as Hudson-Odoi, during a training battle of 11 v 11.

Does Worrall have a City Ground future?

Yesterday, Kelvin Wilson claimed that he felt Worrall would be better served leaving Forest in the near future.

However, if he keeps getting chances to prove himself in training, Worrall might feel that he can still play a part at Forest.

The situation surrounding Cooper’s future at the club might also be taken into consideration for the defender.

He might feel that a new manager could come in and earn him a reprieve, although that does feel unlikely.

Worrall will be buoyed by the fact that Cooper went with three central defenders last weekend at Wolves.

That will likely see the head coach need more available central defenders to continue rotating and that could help Forest captain Worrall.

Willy Boly, Moussa Niakhate, Murillo and Felipe are the current options that Cooper keeps calling upon.

Andrew Omobamidele is also in the squad and it will be fascinating to see what this latest image of Worrall in training means for his Forest future.
