Nottingham Forest are in the mix to sign Nino in January but first, he has a Club World Cup to win. Last night, he helped Fluminense beat Al-Ahly to set up a possible date with Manchester City in the final.

Nino is likely to cost around £6 million and he’s been heavily linked with a move to Forest next month. Some reports have even suggested that the deal is now a foregone conclusion.

Last night, the central defender captained Fluminense as they won 2-0. Goals from Jhon Arias and John Kennedy ensured the victory and the national media delivered their verdict on his performance.

Forest-linked Nino stars in Club World Cup

Nino has been linked to Forest and he finally looks set to leave Fluminense next month. It will end a three-year association with the Brazilian outfit and he’s made 238 appearances for the club.

Nino’s form was so good during the last campaign that he was called into the Brazil squad for games against Colombia and Argentina. He came on as a substitute in the game against the world champion to claim his first cap.

After last night’s performance, the Forest-linked defender Nino received some praise from Globo, who claimed: “He performed discreetly in the first stage. In the second half, he suffered from long balls, mainly to El Shahat on the left side, but he did not compromise. He was safe in the final stretch of the game.”

Forest can pull off a coup with defensive signing

The player is only 26-years-old and it’s been claimed that the Reds would like to sign a right-sided version of Murillo. Perhaps in Nino, Forest feel they are getting the ideal player.

The Brazilian is set to embark on a European adventure. It will be a blow to Fluminense with their owner claiming that he’d have given Nino a 10-year contract if he thought for one minute he’d sign it.

Forest need to do something defensively. The team continues to concede goals at an alarming rate and hopefully, Nino can be a deal that gets done by Forest early in the transfer window.
