Morgan Gibbs-White has raved about Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood after his hat-trick against Newcastle. The Reds came from a goal behind to claim a huge three points in the Premier League.
Wood signed for Forest for around £15 million in the January transfer window of 2023. The 32-year-old hasn’t always been considered a regular in the team but he’s now scored four goals since Nuno Espirito Santo came to the club.
Forest needed this win badly. It was their first since they beat Aston Villa in November and their run of form has seen the team slip towards the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Gibbs-White praises striker after Forest win
Forest captain Gibbs-White wore the armband in Espirito Santo’s second game in charge. He led by example with a dominant display that saw him make four key passes.
After the game, he was interviewed alongside Wood as Forest lapped up the praise for their efforts. Gibbs-White was quick to praise the hero of the hour for his performance.

He told Amazon Prime: “It comes from the start of the week, we talked about what we were going to do in the game and fair play to the big man he scored three absolutely incredible goals.”
Wood must now strive for consistency at Forest
With Taiwo Awoniyi out injured, Forest need to ensure that their goalscorer stays fit. The 32-year-old has stepped up with aplomb in his absence and long may that continue.
Stuart Pearce praised Wood for his showing in a Forest shirt today. He was impressed with his composure and it’s pleasing to hear Gibbs-White laud him too.
Wood has now got seven goals to his name for the 2023/24 campaign. He is clearly a man in confident form and he will hope to keep scoring goals for the remainder of the season.
Awoniyi is viewed by the supporters as the number one striker following his 11 goals last season. However, with Espirito Santo throwing his weight behind the striker, the Nigerian could now face a fight to get his place back if Wood keeps scoring for Forest.
