It’s been a sound year for the Nottingham Forest B-Team during the calendar year of 2023 and Jack Thompson looks like a serious talent.
The midfielder has been pushing to become a regular in Warren Joyce’s team in the Premier League 2 campaign during 2023/24.
Thompson has taken everything in his stride during 2023 and he’s showcased that he’s looking like a senior Forest player in the making.
Who is Jack Thompson
Thompson has come through the ranks at Forest and he’s a player born and bred in Nottinghamshire.
The 18-year-old has progressed nicely year after year and during the current campaign, he’s made a number of appearances in all competitions.
He was part of the under-18s that reached the FA Youth Cup Final during the 2021/22 campaign as the Reds lost to Manchester United.
During that run, Thompson came off the bench against Blackburn and Chelsea, whilst he was an unused substitute in the final.
This season, he’s kicked on and he’s seriously caught the eye in the EFL games against EFL outfits.
No fewer than 15 clubs sent scouts to watch Forest in that competition and Thompson might have been one name scribbled into their notepads.
In a 2-1 win over Accrington that saw Forest reach the first knockout round of the competition, he scored a long-range cracker that showcased he’s not afraid of taking aim.
What’s next for Thompson at Forest
The challenge for Thompson is to become a regular in the B-Team and gain more consistency as a player.
With Forest keen to give all of their talented gems plenty of game time, however, Thompson will almost certainly get more opportunities this season.
The teenager has caught the eye of Steve Cooper already. Earlier this year he posted on his Instagram that he’d been training with the senior squad and that bodes well.
At 18-years-old, he’s already getting some minutes with the B-Team this season and that is definitely a good sign.
If the player stays grounded and continues on his current upward trajectory, the future can be extremely bright for Thompson.
