Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall now has firm interest from Fenerbahce with the transfer deadline looming large.

This comes from The Athletic.

So, what does the future hold for Worrall at Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Fenerbahce hold firm interest in Forest defender Joe Worrall

The 27-year-old finds himself way out of the reckoning at Forest and he’s played for a single minute under Nuno Espirito Santo in the Premier League.

According to The Athletic, it’s widely expected that Worrall will leave Forest before the day is out – with Fenerbahce now holding a firm interest.

Worrall has also been linked with a move to Sheffield United this month, whilst Leeds also considered trying to take him on loan.

Forest are holding out for a sale, however, as they continue to streamline their squad ahead of the business end of the season.

Worrall might not be the only player to head to Turkey before the transfer window slams shut later tonight.

Serge Aurier has been linked with Galatasaray and the two current Forest players could soon be playing for rival clubs.

Worrall sale would be ideal for all parties

This does feel like the end of the road for Worrall and leaving Forest is in the best interest of everyone at this stage.

It was claimed that Worrall fell out with Steve Cooper when he was in charge and that saw him not involved in the squad for a little while.

It says a lot that with Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly at the African Cup of Nations, Espirito Santo has turned to the untried Andrew Omobamidele instead of Worrall.

Worrall’s days at Forest are now numbered and he’d be mad at this stage to turn down the chance to play for a club the size of Fenerbahce.

Worrall has made 226 appearances for Forest having graduated from the academy and it will prove a tough decision to move on.

In our view, however, Worrall’s chances of regular game time are non-existent and a departure looks like the only viable option.
