Tony Cascarino has found amusement in Nottingham Forest and their decision to appoint Mark Clattenburg to a new role.
The pundit has been speaking with TalkSPORT – and he’s questioned what Brian Clough would think of such an appointment.
So, what has Cascarino said about Forest appointing Clattenburg? Let’s take a closer look…
What Tony Cascarino said about Forest appointing Mark Clattenburg
Well, it’s been a hot topic of conversation across a number of football shows this weekend.
Forest have made the decision to appoint Clattenburg as a match and performance analyst – and he was at the City Ground on Saturday.
He saw Neco Williams denied an obvious penalty, with Dermot Gallagher claiming Forest should have been awarded the decision.
Cascarino was quizzed on the decision by Forest to appoint Clattenburg into a frankly bizarre role at the City Ground.

He doesn’t think it’s a move that the legendary figure Brian Clough would have been particularly happy about.
Cascarino told TalkSPORT: “As soon as I heard this I laughed because I just thought can you imagine Brian Clough ever having to deal with this? I can’t see that going down too well.”
Clough would never condone Forest decision – but respect was higher then
The legendary figure was always keen to focus on the football and he showed respect to the referees wherever possible.
Nowadays, the respect for match officials is lower than a Derby County points total in the Premier League and that has to change.
Forest have been on the wrong end of some woeful decisions this season and Clattenburg will help to try and educate the club.
Cascarino does make a fair point that it’s hard to imagine the late Clough doing this but times do change.
Now, time will tell just what exactly Clattenburg can help Forest with when it comes to match officials.
