Elite journalist Henry Winter has a real concern that something unprecedented will happen in the Premier League this season after Nottingham Forest were deducted four points.

The Reds discovered their fate yesterday afternoon. It drops Forest down to 18th place in the Premier League and Evangelos Marinakis is expected to launch an appeal.

Now, Winter believes that the Premier League is in real danger of an unprecedented situation, venting his frustrations on X after the news regarding Forest came out.

Henry Winter thinks unusual situation could occur this season

Well, it would appear as though Winter has some concerns about the situation involving Forest and a possible appeal process.

Forest do look set to launch an appeal, with Marinakis not happy at the outcome. However, the Reds chief could throw the Premier League into chaos if he does.

Winter has real concerns regarding the timeline for the appeal and another outcome being reached involving Forest.

He said on X: “The Premier League season finishes May 19. Assuming Forest appeal 4-point deduction for breaching PSR, PL says appeal hearing backstop date in May 24 (in advance of AGM). Appeal takes time. Real danger that relegation positions are finalised only after season finishes.”

Forest have big decision to make – and Winter is right

The whole thing is a joke. With the Premier League having these cycles finish midway through a season, there will always be situations like this arise.

Based on what Winter is saying, Forest have a big decision to make over their appeal. However, it does seem a bit of a free hit to make one, given that things can hardly go any worse.

Ultimately, this is no longer hanging over Forest on the pitch. The Reds must now bottle all of their frustration and use it as a siege mentality to start winning games on the pitch.
