Nottingham Forest fans made their feelings about a potential departure from the City Ground loud and clear during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat against Chelsea.
There has recently been talk of Evangelos Marinakis taking the Garibaldi away from the City Ground and moving to Toton – due to the difficulty involved in expanding the current site.
The Greek businessman told The Athletic in February of his “masterplan” to build a new 40,000-capacity stadium with two new stands on the current site of the City Ground.
However, given the fact the Nottingham City Council – who own the land – are believed to be uncooperative as things stand, there is a possibility of a move to Toton, where a plot of land reserved for the abandoned HS2 project could be built upon, again according to The Athletic.
Now – however – Nottingham Forest fans have made their feelings on that potential move crystal clear…
Nottingham Forest fans make feelings on Toton abundantly clear
It is safe to say the Nottingham Forest supporters don’t want to go anywhere – especially not to Toton.
During Saturday’s 3-2 defeat against Chelsea, fans could be heard chanting: “Toton’s a ________, I want to stay here”.

There were also cries of “stand up for the City Ground” – which caused thousands to raise to their feet, as also spotted by Paul Taylor of The Athletic.
Evangelos Marinakis must listen
Nottingham Forest fans were recently left angered after Marinakis raised season ticket prices by an average of 24%.
The 56-year-old then made the situation worse by refusing to justify the decision, ignoring the BBC’s request for an interview on the matter.
BBC Nottingham Sport stated: “Update: When recording this podcast, we mentioned that we’d asked Nottingham Forest for an interview regarding the season-card prices and were waiting to hear back. We can confirm that the request has been declined.”
Therefore, if Marinakis now ignores what the supporters – quite audibly – chanted about a possible move to Toton, he risks burning his bridges with the fanbase once and for all.
