Joe Lolley has now reacted after a Nottingham Forest fan asked what he thinks of Evangelos Marinakis.
The Sydney FC No.10 – who made 171 appearances for Nottingham Forest – shared his response while hosting a Q&A session on Instagram.
So, what did Joe Lolley say about Evangelos Marinakis? Let’s take a look…
What Joe Lolley said about Evangelos Marinakis
The 31-year-old suggested that he is somewhat frightened of the Greek businessman with his answer.
Lolley wrote “probably feared for my life had Brice Samba not saved the next penalty 🤣” in reference to his missed spot kick in the 2022 Championship Play-Off semi-final against Sheffield United.
The man from Redditch famously had the chance to send Nottingham Forest to Wembley in front of the City Ground faithful back in May 2022 – but instead blasted his penalty into orbit, giving the Blades a lifeline.
Fortunately, Samba was able to prevent Morgan Gibbs-White from taking the shootout into sudden death, sparing Lolley’s blushes as a result.
Evidently, had the France international not saved that penalty, Lolley would have done all he could to avoid Marinakis after the final whistle, with players clearly aware of the 56-year-old’s temper.
How 31-year-old has fared since leaving Nottingham Forest
Lolley has done well for himself since leaving the City Ground in 2022.
As aforesaid, he has become Sydney FC’s No.10 as he ventures into a new experience in Australia, where he has impressively scored 19 goals and provided 19 assists in 61 appearances for the A-League outfit.

Lolley also lifted the Australia Cup in 2023, which is the second trophy of his career after winning the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley in 2022.
Most recently, the Nottingham Forest fan favourite earned a place in the 2023/24 PFA A-League Team of the Season after a superb season.
