Nottingham Forest’s summer is up and running now with their first pre-season friendly under their belt.

Nuno Espirito Santo is now well into his pre-season programme at the City Ground with the first of the summer friendlies now under their belt.

Forest have been able to welcome a number of new faces already in the window with a few debuts handed out on the weekend against Chesterfield.

However, Forest are not done just there when it comes to potential incomings as the Reds continue to look for possible opportunities in the market.

There is one player who Forest have been linked with since before the window even opened but there is strong interest now arriving from Serie A.

Nottingham Forest target now receiving Serie A interest

Already this summer, Forest have been able to bring in a new winger, midfielder, defender and goalkeeper.

The only major position which has not been added to is up front with a new striker.

Chris Wood showed his worth on the weekend with the opening goal against Chesterfield on the back of his impressive 2023/24 campaign.

But there may be questions over what Taiwo Awoniyi can bring to the table with Forest having entered the race to sign Che Adams.

According to Calciomercato, Torino are now showing a real interest in signing the free agent Che Adams this summer.

Wolves are the other side providing Forest with major competition in the race for the signature of the Scotland international.

Adams is currently in Italy, however, that is not related to a potential move to Turin with the striker enjoying his summer break following the Euros.

But new contacts are expected to take place between the two parties over the coming days.

Is Che Adams good enough for the Premier League?

Over the Scotsman’s 124 appearances in the top flight, he has been able to provide a return of just 25 goals and 13 assists.

If Forest were to bring in Adams this summer, he would have serious competition in Wood for the spot in Nuno’s starting XI.

Granted, he would be arriving on the back of a season in the Championship which returned 15 goals in the league alone.

But history would suggest that Adams may struggle to prove himself in the top flight and it would be made even more difficult if he was coming off the bench for Wood.

His former manager Russell Martin has had some positive words to say in recent months about the 28-year-old.

“They both got a goal and the way Che reacted to not playing was amazing – brilliant energy and so respectful,” Russell told Bein Sport.

“There was a lot of noise around him, we turned down a bid for him a couple of weeks ago and nothing has happened since.
