Nottingham Forest fans all have a message for the club after seeing Nicolas Dominguez in Millwall friendly

Nottingham Forest midfielder Nicolas Dominguez was handed another chance to stake his claim for a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team last night.

The man signed from Bologna for £8.5 million last summer enjoyed a pretty successful maiden campaign playing Premier League football.

He scored three goals – including one against Manchester United at the City Ground – and claimed two assists from his 29 appearances in all competitions.

Last night, Forest played Millwall in a pre-season friendly at the Pinatar Arena in Spain and ran out 2-1 winners against the Championship outfit.

Neil Harris admitted that Forest coped with the Spanish heat better than his side and Dominguez was in good form in the first half.

He set up Chris Wood to open the scoring in the first half and looked comfortable playing in midfield alongside Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare.

After watching him pull the strings last night, Forest fans are adamant about Dominguez and what the club must do with him.

Forest fans united over future of Nicolas Dominguez

Dominguez only played for 45 minutes of the game against Millwall last night, with Espirito Santo keen to get minutes into players ahead of the new season.

It’s been claimed in some parts that the player could be sold this summer, with Galatasaray one of the clubs monitoring Dominguez.

During the game, however, many took to X to express that Dominguez simply must remain on Trentside this season.

One fan wrote: “Dominguez what a boy.”

There was yet more praise for the midfielder with one fan adding: “Why is everyone talking about us selling Dominguez? Where has that story come from?”

A Forest podcast raved about Dominguez too, saying: “Chris Wood with the goal assisted by Nico Dominguez or dubbed the ‘Latino Lansbury’ by @growupdan.”

Finally, another fan said: “Nico has made a couple of them late runs into the box this pre-season. Liking the look of him. Great ball from MGW too.”

What Michael Dawson said about Nicolas Dominguez

‘Daws’ is a legend to fans of a certain age at Forest and he currently works on Soccer Saturday at the weekend.

Back in March, Dawson had praise for Dominguez after Forest had lost 1-0 to Liverpool at the City Ground.

He said: “It’s Dominguez and he had to go off. Danilo has come on. He has played really well for Forest, Dominguez, but it looks like a dead leg or a hamstring. He’s hard to be carried off.”

Shay Given also praised Dominguez in February and clearly, he looks like he could be a really useful asset for Forest during the 2024/25 campaign.

Dominguez has a part to play at Forest

The competition for midfield places at the City Ground is a fierce one and Dominguez definitely has a part to play.

He will compete for a place with Sangare, Danilo and Ryan Yates this season and he definitely has something about him different to those three players.

In pre-season so far he has been popping up more often in the final third and perhaps that is something for Espirito Santo to look at.

Forest have a number of players that they could do with moving on before the window closes next month – but Dominguez isn’t one of them!
