Nottingham Forest may have surprised a few people in the early stages of the 2024/25 campaign having now secured four points.

Nuno Espirito Santo has seen his side get off to an unbeaten start in their opening two games of the new season.

The latest of which has seen Forest seal three points in their away trip to Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

After finishing so close to the relegation zone last season, starting the season with four points on the board is testament to the positive work that has been done over the summer.

Forest have been one of the most active clubs in this summer’s transfer market and there is still the possibility for more players to arrive.

But one of the players who featured against the Saints on Saturday really impressed Micah Richards.

Micah Richards left really impressed by what he saw from Morgan Gibbs-White vs Southampton

More additions could be on their way with Fabrizio Romano claiming David Carmo is about to become Forest’s ninth summer signing.

However, the players which were on display on Saturday done their part in bringing three points back to the City Ground.

And Morgan Gibbs-White particularly impressed Richards as the attacking midfielder’s goal proved enough to seal all three points.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Richards says he was impressed by the 24-year-old but would like to see him increase his goals tally this season.

“This man, Gibbs-White, I thought was very good,” said Richards.

“We talked about Morgan Gibbs-White so many times on this show. I think he scored five goals in the last two seasons. He’s talked about wanting to do better and I think he’s got the ability to do better.

“He should be looking at 10 Premier League goals.”

Morgan Gibbs-White is looking to improve this season

It has to be remembered that there is more on offer to Gibbs-White’s 2023/24 campaign that just his five goals.

The playmaker also returned 10 Premier League assists to provide Forest with 15 goal contributions in the league alone.

However, Gibbs-White has admitted himself that he would like to add more goals to his game.

“It’s about taking that chance, luckily I did. I feel like I need to add more goals that’s what I want to do,” he told the media after the game on the south coast.

With that in mind, the ‘extraordinary’ Gibbs-White has already received interest from Tottenham Hotspur recently and adding more goals on top of his impressive assists return may make it difficult for Forest to keep him at the club.
