Fabrizio Romano says Nottingham Forest are about to complete their ninth signing with £12m player

Nottingham Forest are truly up and running in this season’s Premier League campaign having put four points on the board now.

Nuno Espirito Santo was delighted with his side on Saturday after they sealed all three points in their away trip to Southampton.

It was a similar game to the opening weekend which saw Forest show their dominance but struggle to capitalise on it.

But the focus at the City Ground is not just on the Premier League action with less than a week now remaining in the transfer window.

And Fabrizio Romano has just claimed the Reds are set to make their ninth signing of the summer transfer market.

Fabrizio Romano shares David Carmo to Forest transfer update

It has certainly been a busy summer for the Reds who have already brought in eight players to the club over the last two months.

And there is scope for more to arrive with a deal nearing for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah ahead of Friday’s deadline.

But there is a player who is now set to become Forest’s ninth signing of the summer before Nketiah potentially makes his move north.

According to Fabrizio Romano, David Carmo is now about to become a Forest player with a deal agreed with FC Porto.

Carmo travelled last night to complete his move to the City Ground on a five-year deal with the total fee – including add-ons – worth around £12m.

However, this is just another summer signing which Forest fans are going to have to wait to see in action as he is also set to join Olympiacos on loan.

Marko Stamenic has already been sent to Forest’s sister club and there is talk of Jota Silva potentially being loaned out to Olympiacos for the 2024/25 campaign.

Forest are reaping the rewards of a strong summer

Many of the ‘expert’ pundits predicted Forest to struggle this season with relegation tipped by a lot of them prior to the new season.

Of course, earning four points from two games does not mean Forest are going to be challenging for Europe this season, but the early signs are positive.

Nuno has seen a lot of new players arrive at the club this summer, but this has not seen the Forest boss make huge changes to his starting XI.

The 50-year-old has simply fine-tuned his side with a couple of the new signings like Nikola Milenkovic and Elliot Anderson whilst now having improved quality off the bench.

And the potential signing of a new striker would cap off what has been an excellent last few months for the Reds both on and off the pitch.
