‘Absolutely fantastic’… Ben Foster thinks one man has been ‘unbelievable’ for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have made a relatively strong start to the 2024/25 campaign with four points from two games in the Premier League.

Forest were denied all three points late on against Bournemouth when Antoine Semenyo equalised with just minutes remaining.

However, on Saturday, Forest bounced back to claim a big three points thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White scoring the game’s only goal away at Southampton.

The Reds go into Saturday’s home game against Wolves with a renewed sense of optimism and hopefully, the unbeaten start to the season can continue.

Ben Foster raves about Nottingham Forest man

The Reds are looking to build on their fine start and the former England goalkeeper thinks this win could be a catalyst to ensure a comfortable season.

Foster has confessed he’s been very impressed with Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo since he arrived in December.

He thinks what he’s achieved has been very impressive and thinks Saturday’s win was a very big one.

He said on the Cycling Goalkeeper podcast: “What Nuno has done since he came in last season has been unbelievable for them. Genuinely, he’s been absolutely fantastic.

“These are the games, either you get relegated by or you get safe by. If you’re Forest and you win this game, they’re the ones that will be a massive contribution towards staying up.

“This result probably shows why someone like Forest will be fine this season and Southampton could go down.”

Forest can really kick on this season under Espirito Santo

He might not be the fist-pumping purist that Steve Cooper was but Espirito Santo cares deeply about doing well for Forest.

The Portuguese boss is always keen to talk about the we and the us rather than the him and he simply wants to push Forest forward.

The Premier League is a division that he knows extremely well having spent time with Wolves and Tottenham previously.

Now, Espirito Santo will be keen to bolster the squad further before Friday’s deadline and then continue the impressive start.

It’s early days of course but Forest look to be in safe hands under Espirito Santo and hopefully more positive results can follow.
