Nottingham Forest are continuing to search for a new striker before the transfer window closes on Friday.

Santiago Gimenez could be back on the cards with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Forest aren’t ready to walk away just yet.

Eddie Nketiah is one player who is off the table, however, with the 25-year-old set to sign for Crystal Palace from Arsenal.

With just a few days of the window remaining, it would appear as though Forest are stepping up their efforts to land a new striker.

It looks likely that the club will get someone over the line but it just remains to be seen who.

Nottingham Forest want Brian Brobbey from Ajax

The Eredivisie is clearly a market that Forest are keen to target strikers from this summer, with Brobbey now on the shortlist.

According to Pete O’Rourke, the Reds are turning their attention to Brobbey with things looking precarious with Gimenez.

Brobbey scored 23 goals last season for Ajax as they endured an underwhelming season by their standards.

At 22-years-old he fits the profile of a player that Forest have been trying to sign and that does suggest that the club are going to stick to their guns.

Brobbey is a product of the youth academy at the Amsterdam Arena and has spent time on loan with RB Leipzig during his career.

In 124 appearances for Ajax, he’s scored 49 goals and claimed 19 assists, with a top European league looking like a possible destination at some point.

Pierre van Hooijdonk raved about Forest-linked Brian Brobbey

The former Forest striker is arguably one of the best strikers to ever play for the Reds and he knows Brobbey as a player very well.

A couple of years ago when Brobbey was bursting onto the scene, he raved about the player as a striker and believes he’s got vast potential.

He told Ghana Soccernet: “Because he is so fast and strong, he was very annoying for the defenders and dangerous for Ajax. He is a real striker.”

This certainly bodes well and the fact he’s fast will suggest that Forest will be getting the exact sort of striker they crave.

Nuno Espirito Santo needs someone who can run in behind and make chances for himself and that looks exactly like what Forest would be getting with Brobbey.

It does feel as though there will be lots of twists and turns with the Forest striker search and Brobbey is perhaps a striker that the fan base would grow to like.
