Nottingham Forest have exited the Carabao Cup having lost the game against Newcastle United on penalties.
After drawing the game 1-1 following 90 minutes, Forest and the Magpies battled it out through spot kicks which – despite Carlos Miguel’s big save – saw the Reds bow out.
Joe Willock opened the scoring after just 18 seconds which saw the Reds made to battle for an equaliser which eventually came in the second half.
It has been a busy summer for Nuno Espirito Santo who has now seen nine players come through the doors at the City Ground.
One of the players who has arrived over the course of the summer window is Jota Silva from Vitoria de Guimaraes.
The forward made his Forest debut on the weekend with a cameo display in the final minute of the victory over Southampton.
However, Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United saw the 25-year-old make his very first start.

Nottingham Forest fans wowed by Jota Silva display vs Newcastle
Despite having just signed for Forest this summer, Silva has been linked with a potential loan exit to Olympiacos before the end of the window.
With his first showing in a Forest shirt over the weekend, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi shared their congratulations to Jota after the game.
But the game against the Magpies was the first opportunity for Jota to show the home crowd what he was capable of.
Jota scored a stunning goal to draw Forest level after 50 minutes before being withdrawn shortly after the hour mark.
Fans reacted in their droves to Jota’s goal with one fan saying, ‘All over them Jota Silva looks an incredible player.’ Meanwhile, another fan added, ‘Jota Silva looks ready good so far tonight.’
Although Silva scored a stunning goal, one fan was impressed by something else, saying, ‘Jota Silva’s work rate unreal.’ Whilst another simply said, ‘Jota Silva you beauty.’
It looks like Silva could become a fan favourite with one adding, ‘I don’t want to be reactionary but I absolutely love Jota Silva.’ But the comment of the night went to this joking response, ‘Jota Silva playing exactly like a man that’s desperately trying to avoid a season long loan to Olympiacos in the coming days.’
