Behind the scenes at Nottingham Forest the comfortable seats will be coming out and the pizza man will be on speed dial as the club gears up for a late night on transfer deadline day once again.

It’s notorious down at the City Ground since Forest won promotion to the Premier League. The deadline day drama is what the club does best – and once again it looks set to be busy.

Last summer, there was the has he, hasn’t he saga involving Ibrahim Sangare, with Forest getting him over the line in the nick of time. As for Kamil Grosicki, his name still leaves supporters in cold sweats…

This summer looks like being no different. A new striker is in the sights of the club, whilst a goalkeeper and a midfielder could also be on the agenda ahead of Friday night’s transfer deadline.

Nottingham Forest want Edoardo Bove from Roma

According to Calcio Mercato, the Reds are in the market for another midfielder and are trying to bring Bove to the City Ground.

The player has fallen down the pecking order with the Serie A outfit and the club are trying to move him on before the deadline.

Bove, 22, has made 92 appearances for the Italian outfit, scoring four times and claiming two assists from his central midfield position.

The start of the 2024/25 campaign hasn’t gone according to play for Bove and he’s been an unused substitute in both games.

Forest aren’t alone in the race to sign Bove – and Olympiacos could also be in the mix to sign this player. Evangelos Marinakis owns both teams and it’s not clear looking at the report which club he’d be keen to send Bove to.

Other clubs are also in the mix, with Fiorentina and Sevilla keen to sign him ahead of the deadline on Friday.

Jose Mourinho raved about Bove in 2023. After a shock defeat to Slavia Prague in the Europa League, he claimed the midfielder was the only player who could take any credit from such a drab team performance.

Midfielder clearly in the sights of Forest before Friday

This is going to be an intriguing one ahead of the deadline – and perhaps this is a transfer more tailored towards Olympiacos.

Who Scored claims that Bove’s main qualities are tackling, aerial duels and through balls, with defensive duties the order of the day.

It’s not clear how much Roma want for their player but it feels as though Bove would be no more than a backup option at Forest.

Ibrahim Sangare, Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez and Elliot Anderson are the midfield options at Forest and he might not represent too much of an upgrade on any of those.

Bove is only 22 and that does mean he fits the profile of what Forest are trying to do in the market.

However, this doesn’t feel like a deal that Forest will be in too much of a rush to do before the deadline day drama gets into full swing.
