Nottingham Forest are set to complete a deal to sign a new striker – but it perhaps isn’t as exciting as that statement would be first anticipated.
Forest need to make sure they get their squad well-stocked ahead of the transfer window closing and a striker is high on the list of targets.
Nine new signings have arrived this summer, with two of them – Marko Stamenic and David Carmo – both joining Olympiacos on loan.
The Reds need a new talisman and Forest are heavily linked with Santiago Gimenez who is the first-choice target before the window closes.
Now, a new striker is set to be signed, but this looks like a deal with one eye on the future.

Nottingham Forest will take Kristian Fletcher on loan
According to Tom Bogert of Give Me Sport, the striker will be joining Forest on loan for the 2024/25 campaign – where he will likely play with the B-Team.
Fletcher will sign from D.C. United where he has come through the youth ranks with the Washington-based club.
Last season, Fletcher spent time on loan with Swansea and scored twice in two games for their under-21 outfit before returning to the United States.
Now, he will link up with the Forest B-Team and try to get some game time in Warren Joyce’s ranks over the next 12 months.
Fletcher operates as a striker but he can also play on the left wing and will bring some versatility to the Forest development ranks.
The 19-year-old has played senior football with D.C. United. He’s featured 28 times in the first team, scoring twice and claiming a single assist.
An article done last year by Stars and Stripes FC profiling Fletcher called him ‘excellent’ when in possession of the ball and a ‘nightmare to defend’.
Forest now need senior striker to arrive before deadline
The profile for players recruited this summer has been very good, with an average age of around 23 being signed by Forest.
Now, there is some more work to do, however, and a senior striker is required to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s ranks.

Gimenez would be a fantastic addition to the ranks but it’s a deal that could prove to be tricky to do this month.
As ever with Forest there promises to be lots of twists and turns ahead of deadline day and hopefully, Fletcher isn’t the player to arrive at the club.
It will be intriguing to see how Fletcher performs with the B-Team and if he does well, there is an option for Forest to buy him next summer.
