Nottingham Forest’s transfer deadline day is already up and running with one new signing and, if all goes well, there will be more to follow.

It’s already been a typically manic transfer window for Nottingham Forest, with masses of players heading in both directions.

The signings of Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic and Jota Silva are the headlines of the 10 new arrivals while a massive 26 players have left the City Ground, including Joe Worral, Moussa Niakhate and Felipe.

Yet, there is still the potential for several more signings to be made before the window closes at 11 pm on Friday and here is where Forest stand on those potential transfers, with Manchester City youngster George Murrary-Jones already completing his move.

George Murray-Jones

The first signing of deadline day is one for the future, with the Forest Academy moving to secure Manchester City starlet George Murrary-Jones.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper has spent the last three years at City after being signed from Southend and is highly rated by the Blues but, with competition fierce, he has been sold.

According to Joe Bray of the Manchester Evening News, Forest could pay up to £1.1m for Murrary-Jones and there is a 25% sell-on clause in his contract.

Murray-Jones told the club: “I’m really happy to have signed and can’t wait to get started.

“After discussions with the Club, I’m convinced this is the best place for me to develop my game and now I just want to get to work and have a good season.”

James Ward-Prowse

Forest’s first big first-team addition on deadline day looks likely to be West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Despite signing him for £30m just last year, the Hammers are looking to move on free-kick expert Ward-Prowse as Julen Lopetegui wants to upgrade his midfield with Carlos Soler.

It’s an opening Forest have wasted little time in ceasing, with Sky Sports reporting a season-long loan deal has been agreed. Ward-Prowse is now set to undergo a medical.

Morato

Forest are also keen to add some more defensive depth and Benfica centre-back Morato looks likely to be moving to the City Ground.

In the latest update from the Portuguese publication Record, the 23-year-old Brazilian has flown to England to sign for a Premier League side, with Forest his likely destination.

The signing of Morato is expected to set Forest back £18m, with Fulham and Tottenham also showing interest during the window.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is a long-term target of Forest and it’s a move that could finally come to fruition on deadline day.

Forest are looking to add a new goalkeeper to provide competition for 32-year-old Matz Sels and Kelleher could be an astute buy.

Though second-choice at Liverpool, the Irishman has proven himself to be excellent between the sticks in his rare opportunities and is now desperate for regular first-team football.

When asked about potential outgoings on Friday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot said: “If it’s the right opportunity for the player and the club we will act and if that opportunity comes for the both of us it will happen.”

When quizzed on Kelleher specifically he added: “Maybe, but we have to make decisions as well, it’s not just the player.

“If you work at a club like Liverpool, you need a lot of competition and a lot of good players. As I said, Mamardashvili is one for the future and we’re really happy with the goalkeeper we have at the moment.

“Caoimhin is one of them, so we’re in a good place when it comes to goalkeepers both now and in the future.”

“If it’s the right opportunity for the player and the club we will act and if that opportunity comes for the both of us it will happen.”

Matt Turner

As well as signings, there looks set to be at least a couple of exits on deadline day and it’s unsurprising that one of those is third-choice goalkeeper Matt Turner.

The American has seen himself slip down the pecking order after his disastrous start for the club and looks set to join Crystal Palace.

According to Sky Sports, Turner is in London to sign terms on a loan move to Selhurst Park after the Eagles sold Sam Johnstone to Wolves earlier in the day.

It may be a season-long loan move, but Turner’s future at Forest looks over after the club spent £10m on him just a year ago.

Josh Bowler

Finally, winger Josh Bowler looks set to be heading out on yet another loan spell, his fourth since joining the club in 2022.

The 25-year-old has already had stints at Olympiacos, Blackpool and Cardiff and is now having a medical at Preston North End.
