Pundit says £50m-rated Nottingham Forest player he doesn’t like was ‘really great’ vs Liverpool

Nottingham Forest upset the media narrative at Anfield on Saturday by winning 1-0 against Liverpool at Anfield.

Danny Murphy claimed it was fatigued because those poor Liverpool players had to jet around the world on international duty.

For context, Forest had 13 of their own players playing across the globe, with Chris Wood starring for New Zealand in America on Wednesday night!

Whilst the excuses rolled in, Forest can now reflect on a positive start with two wins and two draws from four Premier League matches.

On Saturday, there were a number of top performances and hopefully, this can prove to be a catalyst for a positive season for Forest.

Journalist says Forest player he doesn’t like did well on Saturday

This is quite a remarkable claim from the very reputable European football journalist, Gabriele Marcotti.

It’s a comment made about Anthony Elanga, the player who signed for Forest for £15 million from Manchester United and registered 14 goal contributions last season.

He got off the mark in the way of assists for 2024/25 with a scrumptious delivery for Callum Hudson-Odoi to bag his first goal of the new campaign.

But, Marcotti isn’t a fan it would seem and whether that’s as a player or as a person remains to be seen.

He told The Gab and Juls Showt: “I don’t like Nuno and I don’t like Elanga, but his pass was great. Forest were really, really good and you have to give them credit.”

Elanga needs more goals and assists for Forest this season

With a full run of games in a Premier League team under his belt, it’s important for Elanga that he doesn’t stand still this season.

He needs to make sure he attacks things again at Forest and shows why Newcastle are keen to sign the £50 million-rated player.

Last season his pace caused all sorts of problems and clearly that’s the player’s main asset when it comes to assessing what he brings to the table.

With Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa now both waiting patiently in the wings, Elanga can’t rest on his laurels anymore and he must kick on.

Elanga is a very confident character – and always has a smile on his face when he’s on a football pitch.

On Saturday, he justified why Forest were so desperate not to sell him and hopefully, he can enjoy more quality moments in the Garibaldi this season.
