The Premier League have released the official speeds that players have clocked in at this season, and a Nottingham Forest player happens to be second on the list.

Nottingham Forest‘s counter-attacks are quite often based on the pace and quickness of the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.

However, that didn’t go to plan against Fulham as the likes of Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi lacked service, which hasn’t helped by the absence of Gibbs-White.

After the game, Nottingham Forest fans weren’t too pleased with the performance of Awoniyi, who just hasn’t looked the same after his injury.

Interestingly, the Premier League recently released the top speeds of players so far this season, and there’s a familiar name on the list.

Anthony Elanga named the second fastest player in the Premier League

Anthony Elanga joined Nottingham Forest from Manchester United for £15 million last summer.

The winger has been one of the standout performers since making his move to the City Ground, which even saw Elanga attract interest from Newcastle in the summer.

His qualities have been evident already in the current campaign, after being praised by Gabriele Marcotti for his performance against Liverpool.

Now, his pace is also being recognised, as he’s clocked in as the second fastest in the top-flight.

According to the Premier League, Elanga reached a top speed of 35.90 km/h.

To put this into perspective, Erling Haaland only managed 35.74 km/h.

What do players think of Anthony Elanga?

Morgan Gibbs-White and Brandon Williams both praised Elanga for his performance at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea last season.

The Swede is only set to get better too at just 22 years of age.

He’s got the potential to become a superstar if he can work on his finishing. The attacker has yet to score this season despite averaging over a shot per game.

One thing that is for certain is that Forest will struggle to keep hold of him, as Newcastle could come knocking again. And if they’re offering the £50 million they offered before, it could be tempting.
