Nottingham Forest have made a strong start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign and sit nicely poised in the middle of the table.
However, the campaign got off to the worst possible start on the injury front.
Just 10 minutes into the new season, Michael Oliver called for urgent medical attention as Danilo landed awkwardly and broke his ankle.
Although a bad one, the prognosis shortly after seemed better than first feared with the surgeon sharing an update on Danilo via social media.
The New Year looks like a strong return date for the Brazilian player and he’s working tirelessly to get himself fit again.
Forest are a bit like the walking wounded at the moment. Ibrahim Sangare also has a long-term injury, whilst Matz Sels has pulled out of the Begium squad
Several Forest stars sent well wishes to Danilo after his cruel injury blow and now there might be some positive news regarding the midfielder.

Danilo provides injury update on social media
The midfielder is clearly feeling much better and he’s been all smiles on social media.
Danilo posted a photograph on his Instagram showing him out and about wearing a protective boot and using just one crutch.
That likely implies that the recovery is going well and it might not be too long before we can see Danilo back doing some kind of fitness work.
Danilo has been a revelation since signing from Palmeiras for around £16 million and it’s a blow to see him injured.
The youngster started the first game alongside Sangare in midfield and now both of Nuno Espirito Santo’s first choices are out injured.
Still, the modern-day game is one that requires clubs to utilise their entire squad and Fores have been forced to do that in the absence of Danilo.
Danilo will be desperate for his place back when he returns from injury
The 23-year-old is a quality player and if you’re going to pick up a serious injury at any stage of your career, it’s probably not a bad age to get one.
Forest know all too well what he’s capable of and Espirito Santo will welcome him back to the fold with open arms when he does return.

The Reds have other midfielders to call upon with Ryan Yates, Elliot Anderson, James Ward-Prowse and Nicolas Dominguez all available.
Danilo does perhaps offer something a little bit different though and hopefully, he can get himself back into the fray when he’s fully recovered from his ankle injury.
