Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood is a man on a mission at the moment after scoring twice against Leicester City.
The player signed for £15 million from Newcastle has stunned everyone with his form at Forest and he’s started this season where he finished during 2023/24.
Wood was a player who the fan base met with angst when he was signed, given that he never really proved himself as a goalscorer during his time at St James’ Park.
The 32-year-old is out of contract next summer but there has been talk that Forest will open talks with Wood over an extension to his existing deal.
Wood is now closing in on becoming Forest’s all-time leading goalscorer when it comes to the Premier League and should eclipse Bryan Roy’s total of 24 this season.
In Nuno Espirito Santo, Wood now has a manager who believes in him and quite clearly that is something that he’s been desperately craving for a long time.

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood makes Nuno Espirito Santo claim
Under Espirito Santo, it’s been crystal clear that Wood is the head coach’s main striker ahead of Taiwo Awoniyi.
The Nigerian has fallen off the radar a little bit at Forest and he now has to play the role of backup talisman to Wood.
Forest have a player banging goals in for fun, but is there a secret?
It’s quite remarkable that Espirito Santo has been able to get more out of Wood than Cooper given that he was the Forest head coach who actually signed him.
Wood has explained something extremely simplistic that the boss has worked on to try and get the very best out of his two strikers.
He told BBC Sport: “He has come in and put the emphasis on getting balls into the box, getting people into the box. That supplies Taiwo and I extremely well. We are big centre-forwards who love deliveries, love crosses.
“That’s what we thrive off. He has worked on that on the training pitch and thankfully it has come to the field.”
Wood will be eyeing Nottingham Forest record
It’s safe to say that Roy will see his record beaten this season when Wood finally gets over the line and gets that 25th goal in a Forest shirt.
Not only that but he’s already halfway to last season’s total and perhaps Wood will be aiming to get to the magic 20-goal mark during the current campaign.
The 32-year-old is ageing like a fine wine and he’s showing absolutely no signs of slowing up despite his advancing years.
Wood is a quality professional and ultimately, he thoroughly deserves all of the accolades that are coming his way right now.
Hopefully, the player can stay fit this season and continue to have Forest fans dreaming of finishing in contention for a European place come the end of the season.
