Chris Wood simply cannot stop scoring for Nottingham Forest and right now he’s one of the most in-form strikers in the Premier League.
Wood took his tally to seven goals from nine appearances this season with a stunning brace in the East Midlands affair against Leicester on Friday.
The 32-year-old signed for Forest in January 2023, with Wood copping some unfair criticism from some less-than-impressed supporters.
Wood earned praise from Alan Shearer for his Forest performance against Leicester and if anyone knows about scoring goals in the Premier League it’s him.
Forest parted with £15 million for Wood and he’s made a mockery of that transfer fee since Nuno Espirito Santo replaced Steve Cooper at the club.

Chris Wood breaks unwritten rule goalscoring rule for Forest against Leicester
In the modern era of football players have become somewhat woke when it comes to celebrating goals against former clubs.
Scoring goals is what makes football the sport that it is and celebrating is something that should take place after every goal due to the sheer emotion of the situation.
Wood spent several years at Leicester earlier in his career, scoring 20 goals and registering 10 assists from 62 appearances with the Foxes.
That didn’t cross his mind, however, on Friday as the striker ran off towards the travelling Forest fans following both of his strikes.
Leon Osman enjoyed what Wood did after his goals and feels more players should forget about the unwritten rule that riddles football.
He told Premier League Productions: “He’s gone back to his former club here and you can see, players don’t really celebrate against former clubs that much anymore but look he puts this goal in, it’s brilliant striker play, he physically wins that battle and goes and really enjoys scoring. Look how much he enjoyed scoring that goal.”
Wood deserves new Forest contract
It’s been reported that Forest are going to open talks over a new contract with Wood and that is exactly what he deserves.
The Reds will see the player out of contract next summer and losing him right now is not something that bears thinking about.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 5 | 9 | 5 | 2 | 2 | 19 | 11 | 8 | 17 | |
| 6 | 9 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 16 | 12 | 4 | 16 | |
| 7 | 9 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 11 | 7 | 4 | 16 | |
| 8 | 9 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 18 | 10 | 8 | 13 | |
| 9 | 9 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 18 | 18 | 0 | 13 |
Wood is a striker bang in form and other clubs will start to wonder whether they can poach him on a free transfer if Forest aren’t careful.
With the player enjoying his football, hopefully, it’s a deal that can be struck quite quickly between Forest and Wood ahead of his contract expiring.
Wood is already halfway to last year’s total and the challenge for the player this season is to smash through that and meet the 20-goal barrier.
