Nottingham Forest’s impressive run has now ended after a 3-1 loss at the hands of Newcastle, but there was one moment that could have changed the game which Anthony Taylor missed.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side just weren’t able to assert their dominance on the game against Newcastle, as Eddie Howe’s side had almost twice as many shots and 57% possession.
There was one positive for Forest as Murillo grabbed his first goal for the club in the first-half from a nicely taken Anthony Elanga free-kick.
The defensive record did take a slight hit, but let’s not let this take anything away from the outstanding start to the season, still remaining in third position despite defeat.
However, it could have been a different game if Anthony Taylor hadn’t missed a decision that Kevin Nolan believes would have resulted in a red card.

Kevin Nolan claims Dan Burn should have been sent off during Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle
Dan Burn was running a tightrope after picking up a yellow card in the 7th minute of the game, and it very almost resulted in a red in the second half.
The Newcastle United man halted a counter-attack which typically results in a yellow card, but Anthony Taylor was unmoved, much to the disgust of the Nottinghm Forest fans.
Kevin Nolan was quoted on the BBC live blog and believes that Burn should have been sent off, stating that Anthony Taylor was wrong.
“Burn is a lucky lucky boy. He stopped the momentum of the counter-attack while on a yellow card. It’s a yellow by the laws of the game, he’s got that one wrong Anthony Taylor.”
Anthony Taylor’s previous incident involving Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest fans weren’t happy when they saw Anthony Taylor’s name come up ahead of the Newcastle clash after his antics at Brighton.
Taylor was the fourth official when Morgan Gibbs-White was sent off against Brighton for his second yellow card challenge. You could see Taylor mouthing to Rob Jones that it wasn’t a foul, only to then change his mind and advise a second yellow card to send Gibbs-White off.
This led to a complete uproar from the player himself, as well as Nuno and Evangelos Marinakis, which led to their bans recently from the FA.
