Nottingham Forest were second best against Newcastle and suffered a second defeat of the season.
The City Ground rose to applaud Murillo as he netted his first Forest goal after 21 minutes on Remembrance Sunday.
However, that was as good as it got for the Reds who succumbed to a dominant second-half display from Newcastle.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team were well beaten in the end and nothing he seemed to try in the way of substitutions worked.
Some fans pointed the finger at Anthony Taylor on the day but this was a game not impacted by the referee.
After 11 games Forest have 19 points to their name and that is still a good return for this stage of the campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo praises one Nottingham Forest star who proved a point vs Newcastle
There really is no need for an overreaction following this performance.
Okay, Forest were well below what they have been of late but Newcastle were a very good outfit on the day.
Murillo was the man who grabbed the goal against the Magpies and Espirito Santo is chuffed for the player.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “He’s been huge since he arrived he’s been huge and his improvement has been there for all to see.
“He’s proved now we can get goals all over the team and that’s important.”
Forest now face Arsenal after the international break and the time now comes to take stock of a really positive start to the campaign.
Forest will need to share the goals around this season
It’s not healthy for the Reds to solely rely on scoring goals through Chris Wood.
Stats will point to things being similar at other clubs but in Forest’s position in the Premier League food chain, it’s important he’s not depended on too much.
Forest’s last four goals have come from four different scorers and that does bode well as the season progresses.
The £10.6 million Murillo deserves to get himself off the mark and onto the score sheet for Forest.
He’s been knocking on the door pretty much from the moment he signed for the club and late on he might have had another goal.
It wasn’t to be, however, but as Espirito Santo says, he has at least showcased that he knows how to hit the net.
