Nottingham Forest have made a great start to the 2024/25 campaign.

The Reds have got 19 points from 11 matches and have remained unbeaten away despite playing Chelsea, Brighton and Liverpool.

Forest won at Anfield for the first time in many years back in September and there have already been some very good performances this season.

The Reds sit fifth in the Premier League table and that already represents some real progress on the 2023/24 campaign.

With international football now upon us, it’s a good chance for Forest to take stock of what the team has achieved so far.

Several players are on international duty with Murillo hoping to play for Brazil for the first time and Morgan Gibbs-White back in the England fold.

Nuno Espirito Santo has masterminded Forest into fifth at this stage of the season and he’s been responsible for some bold calls.

Nuno Espirito Santo made a mistake in August over Nicolas Dominguez

When the season got underway, Dominguez was on the bench against Bournemouth.

Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare started in central midfield with Ryan Yates stepping off the bench when the former broke his ankle.

Ultimately, it highlighted that Dominguez was at the very best the fourth choice in the Forest engine room.

When James Ward-Prowse signed on loan from West Ham it looked apparent that Dominguez wasn’t really in the picture.

In recent weeks, injuries and suspensions have thrown Dominguez a lifeline and boy has he grasped it.

The Other 14 shows Dominguez to be extremely high up when it comes to tackles and interceptions in the Premier League this season.

Naturally, that only featured 14 clubs outside of the stereotypical big six but it’s a good feat nonetheless.

Dominguez has made 20 tackles and nine interceptions, making a combined total of five – on average – per 90 minutes.

Dominguez currently the first name on the Forest team-sheet

It’s quite remarkable just how good Dominguez has been.

The Argentine can take a lot of credit for how he’s started the season and it would have been easy to sulk in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Dominguez has given his all to the Forest cause and on Sunday against Newcastle, he taught Ryan Yates a lesson.

Signing Dominguez for just £8 million is proving an absolute steal from a Forest perspective and he’s really showcasing his worth as a player right now.

The midfield conundrum was always going to be a tricky one for Espirito Santo to crack this season.

In recent weeks, Dominguez has clearly highlighted a mistake that the Forest head coach made in August by not playing the Argentine performer.

The shirt is now is and if any of his teammates want it, they’re going to have to play extremely well when give the chance to get it off the back of Dominguez.
