Player has decided against joining Nottingham Forest for one strange reason

Nottingham Forest have already been handed their first transfer setback ahead of January, as a winger target has rejected the chance to join them.

Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t have an awful lot to do in terms of additions in the January transfer window, as Nottingham Forest are pretty well stacked in most areas.

The only real area of weakness could come with injuries, as squad depth at striker and goalkeeper could be improved, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Carlos Miguel the only replacements in those positions.

Paul Taylor also believes Forest may target a goalkeeper and a striker in January.

However, there were rumours about a winger making his way to the City Ground, but that doesn’t look as if it will happen anymore after an update that emerged recently.

Mathys Tel rejects a move to Nottingham Forest

There has been contrasting reporters involving Bayern Munich youngster Mathys Tel.

It was first claimed that Forest had made contact to sign Tel, who is being mentored by former Tottenham striker Harry Kane over in Germany.

However, Graeme Bailey stated that Mathys Tel has never been a target for Nottingham Forest, it’s simply his agents trying to find him a solution.

Now, according to Bild’s Englische Woche, relayed by Sport Witness, Mathys Tel has rejected a move to Nottingham Forest due to his desire to join a ‘top club’.

The report states that Forest did in fact make a request to sign him on loan in January, but he has ‘rejected’ their approach and ‘will not move’ to Nottingham Forest.

Mathys Tel snub is a blessing in disguise

Nottingham Forest are already well stocked in wide positions.

The likes of Ramon Sosa and Jota Silva are already ready to step in should anything happen to Anthony Elanga or Callum Hudson-Odoi, and they’ve shown moments of brilliance themselves.

A loan deal would only really be beneficial for Bayern Munich, as it’s clear they don’t want to sell him.

It seems strange that he wants to join a top club on loan, yet he can’t secure regular enough game time at the German giants.

Nottingham Forest have a rich history and are currently up there with the big boys in the Premier League, so perhaps Tel should open the Sky Sports app and have a quick look at the table.

The report states that other Premier League sides, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Werder Bremen, FC Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart are the other teams interested.

Not one of those named clubs are bigger than Forest and it’s unlikely that any of the top flight teams are in a stronger position than us right now, so it seems a strange thing to say.
