The striker search continues for Nottingham Forest ahead of the January transfer window.

It became aking to a soap opera in the summer as Forest scoured a number of continents high and low for a new talisman.

Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest on no fewer than three occasions – with the last of those rejections coming just days before the transfer deadline.

Then there was a saga involving Eddie Nketiah who rejected Forest after a chat with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.

With days left to the transfer window, Forest pursued Omar Marmoush but he ultimately opted to remain with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Marmoush is one of the top-performing players in Europe at the moment and now, Liverpool are being linked with a move for the striker.

That leaves Forest to return to the drawing board and the recruitment team might have to start thinking outside of the box.

Nottingham Forest want Marwan Al-Sahafi

Who, we can hear you cry at the back – but Forest appear to have got their thinking cap on.

Recently it was claimed that Edu had already started working with Forest, looking at the Saudi Arabia and Brazil markets for potential stars to sign.

According to Alkass TV Sports, Forest and Real Sociedad are two of the several clubs thought to be keen on the Saudi Arabia international.

Al-Sahafi is currently on loan with Beerschot in Belgium having departed Al-Ittihad on a temporary basis in the summer.

He’s made a successful start to life in Belgium too, scoring four goals; two against Anderlecht and two against Club Brugge, to really make a name for himself.

Al-Sahafi has been rewarded already with a debut for the Saudi national team and at 20, he looks set for a really bright future.

Al-Sahafi claimed he wants Manchester United transfer last month

In an interview with YS Scores, Al-Sahafi admitted that his dream transfer would be to join Manchester United.

He said: “Berschott will be my gateway to the English Premier League, and playing with Manchester United in order to achieve my biggest goal and dream.”

United are unlikely to be looking at Al-Sahafi any time soon and that might mean he has to use another club as a stepping stone.

If his dream is to play in the Premier League then Forest might be a viable club for him to come to first in order to try and prove himself.

Al-Sahafi fits the profile of the sort of striker that Forest will probably look to sign whilst Chris Wood is in fine form and this could be one to watch in January.
