£46,000-a-week Nottingham Forest player receives Saudi Arabia offer, he’s not played since August

Nottingham Forest are performing well on the pitch at the moment but the plans for January are well underway too.

Mathys Tel has been linked with a Forest switch from Bayern Munich and a couple of signings wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for the club.

Although Forest strengthened well in the summer, Evangelos Marinakis is always looking for ways in which he can do even better on the pitch.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be the same and if there is the opportunity to bring in one or two then perhaps things will be done.

If players are to come in at Forest, however, the consensus is that the Reds will look to move some of the current squad out of the club.

Murillo is being linked with a move but the idea will be to stand firm on the very best players and look at the surplus members of the squad instead.

Al-Riyadh offer contract to Nottingham Forest defender

At the back is where Forest could probably afford to lose one or two players and the future of Willy Boly has come into question this season.

The Ivorian penned a new one-year contract in the summer but he’s not played under Espirito Santo since August.

According to 225 Foot, it’s claimed that Al-Riyadh have offered a contract to Boly ahead of 2025 and given the riches of the Saudi clubs, it’s likely to be tempting.

Boly has been a very good servant to Forest since his arrival from Wolves, helping the Reds remain as a Premier League club for two consecutive seasons.

He’s played 39 games in total at the City Ground but ultimately, he’s found himself deemed surplus to requirements this season.

Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic have developed a strong understanding at central defence and Morato has come in to back those two up.

This will be an offer that Boly thinks seriously about and losing the defender might now be the biggest blow for Forest in January.

Boly has proved a quality signing for Forest

The 33-year-old is coming towards the twilight years of his career and letting him head to Saudi Arabia is something that he shouldn’t be denied.

Over in the Middle East, the money on offer is astronomical and ultimately any player in their thirties would be silly not to seek that kind of move.

Forest can cope with the loss of Boly from their squad. Alongside the main three central defenders, the club has Andrew Omobamidele and youngster Zach Abbott.

Boly would depart Forest with everyone at the club’s best wishes but given that his contract is up in the summer, it makes perfect sense to let him leave if Al-Riyadh is something he wants to consider.
