Nottingham Forest have already made great strides this season and sit fourth in the Premier League after 16 games.

The Reds have a desire to kick on and establish themselves as a proper Premier League club with Evangelos Marinakis extremely ambitious.

It already looks like any threat of relegation has been averted and things are definitely looking up on the banks of the River Trent.

Forest beat Aston Villa at the City Ground last weekend and there were a number of top performances.

Anthony Elanga was hailed by Theo Walcott for his efforts after notching his first goal since February.

However, the talk around the brilliance of someone else at the club is now growing even stronger – and deservedly so.

Dave Watson lauds Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo

The gaffer is someone who is going about his business in a really professional manner.

Marinakis considered sacking Espirito Santo twice last season but now he’s reaping the rewards for staying loyal to the head coach.

Watson believes that Espirito Santo is starting to become deserving of a little bit more praise after the Reds’ solid start to the season.

He told the Cycling GK Podcast: “You look at it. Forest are fourth, Villa are sixth, I’ve been an advocate for Emery but I think Nuno has gone under the radar a little bit, not mentioning him and what he’s done for that team. Liverpool are top and they’re the only team to beat them.”

Nuno Espirito Santo managerial record

It’s hardly surprising that Espirito Santo is getting it right at Forest.

He’s a respected coach and has earned his stripes during times at a number of different clubs.

Okay, a spell at Tottenham threatened to tarnish his reputation but it really shouldn’t have done.

Espirito Santo has always taken a meticulous approach to coaching and Wolves fans to this day maintain a strong rapport with him.

The Portuguese head coach needs time in any job he takes on and after getting that with Forest he’s starting to get results on the pitch.
