Three players who simply must be moved on by Nottingham Forest in January

Nottingham Forest will undoubtedly go in search of new players during the January transfer window.

The Reds have an ambitious owner in Evangelos Marinakis and ultimately he will want to strengthen the squad.

However, with a number of players already at the club, there might need to be some fall guys if Forest are to bring new players in.

A new striker is likely to be on the radar once again at the City Ground.

Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest in the summer and it remains to be seen whether a new talisman can be sought in the mid-season window.

First, departures might need to come and as a result, there are a number of players who might leave the club in the not-so-distant future.

Three Nottingham Forest players who could leave in January

Harry Toffolo

Harry Toffolo has been an exceptional servant to Forest and it would be a shame to lose his influence in the dressing room.

Ultimately, however, he’s hardly played this season and is behind Alex Moreno and Neco Williams in the pecking order for a place.

Toffolo, 28, is at the age where he will want to play regular football and with his contract up in the summer, it would make sense to let him go.

The man signed from Huddersfield for £2.5 million has made 51 appearances for Forest but if a club comes forward in January, he should be allowed to leave.

Willy Boly

Interestingly, Willy Boly actually started the season in the Forest team with Nikola Milenkovic ruled out through suspension.

However, he’s barely been included in the squad recently with Forest seeing Morato as the backup option to Milenkovic and Murillo in the team.

Boly has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and that very much looks like a move that we can see him making at this stage of his career.

The central defender has been a very impressive performer since signing from Wolves and he’s helped Forest remain in the Premier League for a third consecutive season.

Emmanuel Dennis

Emmanuel Dennis is one that Forest have to get sorted by hook or by crook.

Dennis is the sole survivor in the renowned bomb squad and it’s imperative that the club come to some sort of agreement with him.

It feels unlikely that clubs will be queuing up to take him and his sizeable wage and perhaps the club will have to get rid of him in another sense.

Paying his contract up looks like the only viable option here and hopefully, the matter can be resolved in January.
