It’s been quite a season so far for Nottingham Forest as Nuno Espirito Santo has supporters dreaming of the Champions League.
In fairness, finishing in the top four of five might be a stretch for Forest this season but European football feels like a real possibility.
Forest have taken 37 points from 19 games with each of the Premier League outfits now taken on once by the Reds.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 3 | 19 | 11 | 4 | 4 | 26 | 19 | 7 | 37 |
Robbie Earle has already changed his mind on Forest this season after tipping them to go down before a ball was kicked.
Elsewhere, Jamie Redknapp has shared just how impressed he’s been with Espirito Santo – and his stock is starting to rise once again.

Gary Lineker hails three Nottingham Forest players
It’s not been a fun campaign for Lineker so far during 2024/25.
Not only has he been forced to watch Leicester sack Steve Cooper and languish in the bottom three but he’s been made to look foolish by Forest.
Lineker called himself an idiot over his Forest prediction and in fairness, he’s taken his medicine like the true professional he’s proved over the years.
Now on a season review of the Premier League campaign so far, he’s actually found time to rave about three Nottingham Forest players.
He said: “I’ve owned this for a few weeks and it’s great to see and it’s refreshing honestly.
“Elanga has done well on the right, I really like Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi has chipped in on numerous occasions.
“They really work hard and they’re incredibly solid.”
Nottingham Forest now have options all over the pitch
Looking back at the substitutes for the bench in Forest’s last game against Everton and the team’s first back in the Premier League in August 2022 is quite remarkable.
It really is night and day to discover just how far Forest have come and Lineker is right to pick out the three players he has.
| Forest Subs vs Newcastle – August 2022 | Forest subs vs Everton – December 2024 |
| Wayne Hennessey | Carlos Miguel |
| Giulian Biancone | Zach Abbott |
| Loic Mbe Soh | Eric da Silva Moreira |
| Orel Mangala | Willy Boly |
| Cafu | Harry Toffolo |
| Oli Hammond | James Ward-Prowse |
| Taiwo Awoniyi | Jota Silva |
| Alex Mighten | Forest Subs vs Everton – December 2024 |
| Lyle Taylor |
For Elanga and Hudson-Odoi, both have proved great signings but this season both have had periods where they’ve been used as options from the bench instead.
Elanga recently won the Player of the Month award for December after scoring in games against Aston Villa, Brentford and Tottenham.
He, along with Hudson-Odoi and Gibbs-White are the envy of a number of clubs in the top-flight and long may the praise towards the Forest team continue as the season progresses.
Gibbs-White cost Forest an initial £25 million and his form in December has seen him claim five goal contributions, with the player now truly showcasing some incredible form.
