Nottingham Forest will be eyeing some reinforcements this month with the January transfer window now in full swing.
The Reds need to make sure they target the very best additions to the squad to try and cement the third-place position they currently find themselves in.
Finishing inside the top four this season will be hard for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men but right now supporters are daring to dream a little bit.
Forest have been linked with Douglas Luiz in the last 24 hours and additions of that nature would certainly be useful in the race for Europe.
The top end of the pitch is perhaps more of a priority and Forest have shown interest in Igor Jesus but it remains to be seen if a striker will be targeted.
Fabrizio Romano delivers update on Forest-linked Jamie Gittens
Back in October, it was claimed that Forest had expressed an interest in Dortmund winger Gittens.
Now, the player could be on the move this month with Fabrizio Romano delivering an update on the future of the star who can play on either side of the pitch.
He told his YouTube channel: “My understanding from Dortmund is that 2025 is going to be a year where they find it difficult to keep Jamie Gittens because the interest from the Premier League is more than strong.
“Several clubs are now hoping to discuss details as quickly as possible.”
Gittens could provide competition for Forest
It’s been claimed in the past that Gittens is valued at £50 million is the fee that it will take to prise the London-born player away from Dortmund.
This season he’s been flying and has bagged nine goals and five assists from the 23 appearances he’s made for the Dortmund.
It’s hard to imagine Forest parting with that sort of money during this window and perhaps this is a signing that the club might leave until the summer when European football might be able to tempt potential signings.
Gittens has serious potential and given that he’s only 20 he’d be a signed who would now only come with ability but he’d have a huge amount of resale attached.
This is the level of signing that Forest should definitely be targeting and hopefully, the Reds are one of the clubs in the mix to take him.
