There are three things in life for certain; death, taxes and Arne Slot harping on about Nottingham Forest Football Club.
Not since the Reds returned to the Premier League has one manager been so rattled. Forest were the only team to beat a Slot team in 2024 and boy does everyone know about it!
Callum Hudson-Odoi upset his dad by scoring the winner for Forest that day. He’s an ardent Liverpool fan and it would appear that he wasn’t the only one upset by his son’s goal.
Slot has raved about Chris Wood in the build-up to the game tomorrow night. However, it feels like he’s already started with some mind games with some of his other comments.

Arne Slot makes comical claim about Forest ahead of City Ground trip
It’s been a while but a manager has finally beaten Forest with the spending stick again. It became a running joke during the first season back in the Premier League and Slot has kicked things off again.
Ahead of the game, Slot told his press conference: “If you look at the amount of money they’ve spent, it’s not a complete surprise, that they’re doing well this season.”
It would appear that these comments are clearly intended to spice things up. As a result, Slot can expect a red-hot reception when he steps onto the touchline tomorrow night.
As if it’s not bad enough that he hasn’t been able to stop talking about Forest since September, he’s now stoked the fire by claiming the team are all of a sudden big spending – and that simply isn’t true.
Forest squad value in comparison to Liverpool
It’s quite amusing that a manager of Liverpool should mention the riches. Okay, Liverpool had a quiet summer transfer window but their team right now was built over a number of years using vast funds.
Slot’s comments sound a little bit like sour grapes. Almost as if he’s a little bit annoyed that little old Nottingham Forest should dare to upset the Sky Sports Big Six and play them at their own game.

Forest’s recruitment has been extremely good in recent transfer windows. The club know that forking out millions cannot be sustainable with PSR and have instead adopted a meticulous approach.
Slot might be trying to downplay Forest a little bit and make it all about the funds that have been spent instead. However, the game is huge tomorrow night and the Dutch incumbent had better be ready for what the Reds throw at his team on Trentside.
