Nottingham Forest face Liverpool tonight in a game for the ages that has captured the imagination of the entire country.
Both of tonight’s teams are flying high in the Premier League. Forest are currently six points behind league-leaders Liverpool and will be hoping to close that gap under the City Ground floodlights.
Arne Slot has hailed Chris Wood in the build-up to the game. The striker has scored 12 goals this season and the Liverpool boss clearly fancies him to be a danger to his team this evening.
The only disappointing thing about tonight is that the City Ground can’t get more people in. It’s been an ongoing situation at the football club and now there have been some more developments on the future of the club’s home.

Evangelos Marinakis in fresh talks over City Ground development
According to the New York Times, there is no stone being left unturned in a bid for work to start on the City Ground. It’s been a long time coming but talks are still taking place.
Former chairman Tom Cartledge was driving the project before his departure in October. He worked for Benoy and it will come as a surprise to nobody that they’re now no longer in the running.
Instead, it’s believed that talks have been held with Foster and Partners, the firm that helped design the new Wembley and discussed Old Trafford with Manchester United, with talks progressing.
Marinakis is desperate to take Forest to the next level. In order to do that and make the Reds a force in Europe at some point in the future, he’s going to need to get the City Ground to be fit for purpose.
How long have Nottingham Forest player at the City Ground
Make no mistake, fans would be devastated if the club left the City Ground. Cartledge claimed that there were talks over a site in Toton a few months back and that would actually see the club situated closer to Derby’s Pride Park than the current home.
Thankfully, Marinakis has taken the advice from the club’s supporters on board and the challenge now is for the owner to ensure he gets the right deal when it comes to getting things spot on for the stadium.
Forest have been based at the City Ground since September 1898. As a result, it’s one of the country’s oldest football grounds and it would be a devastating day if the club ever moved.
There have been some memorable games on Trentside over the years. With that in mind, it’s great that Marinakis has adopted a desire to remain in pace and the fan base will be rooting for him when it comes to the talks with the architects as the club seeks to get the ball rolling.
