Evangelos Marinakis has been notoriously active in the transfer market for Nottingham Forest, but Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of the most notable.

Forest paid just £3m for Hudson-Odoi, who signed from Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window. Whilst the fee would end up being seen as a bargain for Marinakis, the winger’s career had been stalling.

Never commanding a regular starting spot at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League in 2021, Hudson-Odoi’s switch to Forest was arguably his final opportunity to become a Premier League mainstay.

To the delight of Forest fans, he has taken this opportunity with aplomb, confirming Gary Lineker’s belief that Hudson-Odoi has improved at Forest compared to even his peak performances at Chelsea.

With his importance to the Forest squad ever-increasing, here is a look into the life of lightning-fast winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Who has Callum Hudson-Odoi played for?

Hudson-Odoi joined Chelsea at just seven years old and made his under-18s debut in 2016. He enjoyed plenty of success in the youth ranks, winning two FA Youth Cups and one under-18 Premier League before stepping up to the first team.

Five seasons for his boyhood club saw him fail to make the wide positions his own, leading to Hudson-Odoi being loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen before his permanent move to Forest.

As his Chelsea career began to falter, he joined German side Bayer Leverkusen on loan, where he failed to make the desired impact to reignite his career.
