Jamie Redknapp suggests how much Brentford could sell Yoane Wissa for amid Nottingham Forest interest

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a number of attacking players this month as the club tries to sign another player or two before the window closes.

Evangelos Marinakis wants a new attacker. However, with just one week of the transfer window remaining, time is running out for the Reds to get something over the line.

Forest were beaten 5-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday. However, there isn’t any real need for panic stations and hopefully, the Reds can move on from this result very quickly.

Yoane Wissa has been linked with Forest this month. The Brentford striker has just 18 months to run on his existing contract but the Bees don’t want to see him depart the club in the short term.

It promises to be an exciting week behind the scenes at the City Ground. Forest are still third in the Premier League and the challenge is to strengthen the squad and try and stay in such a lofty league position.

Jamie Redknapp shares how much Yoane Wissa might be worth

With Brentford facing Crystal Palace on Super Sunday yesterday, talk turned towards Wissa. The striker is the hot topic of discussion at the moment with the 12-goal striker being linked with a move away.

Redknapp doesn’t believe Forest were ever going to get Wissa with the offer they made. However, he has shared what sort of money would be required to tempt Brentford into a sale.

He said on Sky Sports: “I guess the only thing is he’s only got 18 months left on his contract and I guess that’s where you have to be smart.

“I think they’ve offered £20-25 million, I think if the offer gets to £40 million then it becomes a different dilemma, or do you just offer him a contract to keep him at the club? But, there’s no doubting his ability.”

Forest won’t pay £40m for Wissa

It’s hard to imagine the Reds undoing their good recruitment by spending £40 million on a player who is now 28-years-old – even if Wissa is incredibly good at Premier League level.

Wissa knows where the net is and has been in fine goalscoring form since signing from Lorient after Brentford had won promotion to the top flight via the Championship play-offs.

Time is running out for Forest though. Things have come to life over the last week or so but there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly close when it comes to a new signing.

Wissa will likely remain on the radar of Forest. However, this feels like a deal that would be much easier for the Reds to complete during the summer transfer window rather than now.
