Nottingham Forest allowed a few players out on loan during the January transfer window as the club chose not to strengthen the squad with any new signings of real note.
Evangelos Marinakis wanted a new forward. However, it appears that it’s not always the case that what Marinakis wants, Marinakis gets, with the Reds left frustrated in their efforts.
Still, it was always going to be hard to sign anyone. PSR is in the background for many clubs in the Premier League and it’s also very rare that teams sitting in third place do much business.
Lewis O’Brien joined Swansea during the transfer window. The other senior player to depart the club was Emmanuel Dennis, with Blackburn handing him the chance to get some minutes under his belt.
On Sunday, the Nigeria international was thrust into the spotlight to make his Blackburn debut in the FA Cup during a defeat to Wolves.

Blackburn Rovers fans all say the same thing as Emmanuel Dennis makes debut
The player has had a rough couple of years since signing for Forest but he already looks to have endeared himself to supporters of Blackburn.
After making his debut fans took to X to express their thoughts on his performance and the Championship does feel like a good level for him to find some form again.
Another fan also spotted Dennis’ particularly weak fitness levels, saying: “Both new signings looked sharp. Dennis faded but he hasn’t played for months.”
Another Rovers fan was pleased with his performance, saying: “Dennis I think needs a couple more games to get match fitness. Difficult to properly judge against tough PL opposition.”
Finally, another fan posted: “Dennis looked really good but probably should’ve got taken off a bit sooner.”
Dennis stats vs Wolves
To say he’d not played football for a number of months, this was a positive performance from Dennis as he made his Blackburn debut.
He showed flashes of his quality for sure and there will be more to come from him as Blackburn try and reach the Championship play-offs this season.
| Emmanuel Dennis stats vs Wolves | Total |
| Minutes | 65 |
| Shots | 3 |
| Pass Accuracy | 80% |
| Key Passes | 2 |
| Dribbles | 2 |
Dennis can operate anywhere across the final third. He often played out wide for Forest during 2022/23 but he spent time with Watford playing as a striker.
The future doesn’t look good for Dennis at Forest and producing the goods for Blackburn could earn the forward a move elsewhere next season.
