Nottingham Forest didnt manage to do any business as the January transfer window came and went without any real business of note when it came to players joining the club.
Evangelos Marinakis did want to sign a new striker during the window. However, Forest were frustrated as a number of targets were linked but came to nothing as the window progressed.
Instead, the month was spent streamlining Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad further. With the Reds third in the Premier League, the squad is settled and that has led to some players slipping down the pecking order.
Lewis O’Brien starred for Swansea after joining them on loan. Elsewhere, Emmanuel Dennis gave a strong account for Blackburn as he signed for them ahead of their FA Cup game with Wolves.
One of the more intriguing departures involved Andrew Omobamidele. It wasn’t in the slightest intriguing that he departed but it was more the fact that he joined Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg, amid interest from Leeds.

Strasbourg fans in total agreement on Andrew Omobamidele
It would appear as though fans of the Ligue 1 club are really warming to Omobamidele and already he’s becoming a bit of a fan favourite.
After the weekend’s result, one fan claimed: “The Goat!”
Another very impressed Strasbourg fan wrote: “Great player and good performance. Well done.”
Finally, one other Strasbourg fan said: Hope you are settling into Strasbourg, it’s like you’ve been playing with us forever.”
Omobamidele stats vs Montpellier
The 22-year-old defender has really hit his straps during his time with Strasbourg and the challenge for him now is to stay in the team and keep showcasing top form.
Omobamidele joined Forest for £11 million after he moved from Norwich in the summer of 2023. With that in mind, it could prove tricky for Forest to make any sort of profit on this deal given a minimal impact at the City Ground.

Still, it’s great that he’s currently playing regular top-flight football albeit in a league that is often considered far inferior to the Premier League and the central defender is clearly enjoying his football.
What the future holds remains to be seen for Omobamidele. Forest have a wealth of options at centre-back and it hardly feels like the Irish performer will be getting in the Reds team any time soon.
